Moving to a new home prompts important questions and decisions at any stage of life. For seniors and their families, thoughts related to future care needs naturally rise to the surface.
While the goal is always vibrant, independent aging, planning ahead brings peace of mind should unexpected health changes come. Marquette’s supportive living options provide exactly that—the confidence and comfort of knowing you’re prepared for whatever comes next.
Most residents begin their journey in our independent living apartments, where many thrive for years without needing additional support. But if your circumstances change, you’ll find the care you need right here on campus, surrounded by familiar faces and the community you’ve chosen.
Your Transition, Your Timeline
No two care journeys look alike. You might spend years in independent living, need temporary rehabilitation after surgery, or move directly to a supportive setting based on your current needs.
Whatever your path, you won’t navigate it alone. Marquette’s care team, led by the Health & Wellness Nurse Navigator, works closely with you and your family to assess needs, explore options, and make transitions as smooth as possible. We take time to listen, answer questions, and ensure you feel confident about every decision.
Understanding Your Care Options Beyond Independent Living
#1. Assisted Living: Independence with the Right Amount of Support
Assisted living bridges independence and care, offering help exactly where you need it. The level of assistance varies by individual, focusing on two key areas:
Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) include personal care tasks like bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) cover more complex tasks such as medication management, meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, and handling finances.
Whether you’re managing mobility challenges, vision changes, early memory concerns, or other health needs, assisted living provides private apartment living combined with personalized support—from medication reminders to chef-prepared meals and housekeeping services.
#2. Memory Care: Specialized Support for Cognitive Changes
An Alzheimer’s or dementia diagnosis changes everything, though the need for specialized care varies by person and progression.
Marquette’s memory care neighborhood, Reflections at the Pavilion, offers a secure, thoughtfully designed environment where residents enjoy private rooms or apartments. Our team receives ongoing training in dementia care approaches, creating meaningful daily experiences while providing assistance with personal care, meals, and activities tailored to each resident’s abilities. In addition, we’re proud to offer our signature Heartfelt Connections—A Memory Care Program®, which utilizes each individual’s unique likes, dislikes, hobbies and interests to create a care plan tailored to them.
#3. Short-Term Rehabilitation: Getting You Back on Your Feet
Recovery from surgery, illness, or injury often requires intensive therapy. Hip replacements, strokes, cardiac events, or cancer treatment can all necessitate rehabilitation services.
Our Health Care Center brings together physical, occupational, speech, and specialized therapists who work with your physicians to create personalized recovery plans. Many return to independent living after completing therapy, while others may benefit from ongoing support in assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing—decisions made collaboratively with you and your care team.
#4. Skilled Nursing: Comprehensive Medical Care
When health needs become more complex—requiring round-the-clock nursing supervision, IV medications, wound care, oxygen therapy, or management of multiple chronic conditions—skilled nursing provides the answer.
Marquette’s skilled nursing Health Care Center combines medical expertise with compassionate care, supporting residents who need both clinical services and help with daily activities. Our licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants work together to ensure comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
A Community That Evolves With You
“When will I need more care?” It’s a question many seniors ask themselves. The answer is deeply personal, but choosing a community with comprehensive care options means you’re ready for any scenario.
At Marquette, care transitions happen within your existing community—among friends you know, staff who understand your preferences, and surroundings that feel like home. No need to start over somewhere unfamiliar.
